The course aims to introduce students to the fundamental concepts of Viticulture. Upon successful completion of the course, the student will have acquired the following skills:

  1. To understand the basic principles of Viticulture.
  2. To understand terms and processes related to Viticulture, such as:
    • History and origin of the grapevine
    • Morphology and anatomy of the grapevine
    • Annual growth cycle of the grapevine
    • Reproduction of the grapevine
    • Developmental physiology of the grapevine
    • Propagation of the grapevine
    • Establishment of a productive vineyard
    • Grapevine pruning
    • Cultivation practices
    • To understand the importance of modern viticulture for the production of wine and its valuable by‑products.
