The summer school on Bio-inspired Molecules and Materials for Medicinal Applications and Sustainability (Bio3Ms) is designed for anyone interested in bio-inspired materials with applications in medicine and the environment. The program is also suitable for those who wish to pursue an academic or professional career related to the design and synthesis of bio-inspired polymers and hybrid materials with modern applications in medicine and environmental protection.

The aim of the course is to provide students, graduates, technicians, and researchers with a comprehensive introduction to hybrid biomaterials, with particular emphasis on their applications in medicine and in addressing contemporary environmental challenges. The topics will focus on state-of-the-art technologies for developing high-value products in the medical field, as well as on skills related to advanced techniques for the treatment of water, soil, and air.

Beyond the theoretical component, the workshop is ideal for those already working in the field who wish to deepen their knowledge of new developments, current industrial practices, and market prospects. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in practical activities and gain hands-on experience, applying their theoretical knowledge and strengthening their skills in a real-world setting.

The diverse academic and professional backgrounds of the participants will create a rich learning environment, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange among professionals from various disciplines.

Upon completion of the program, students earn 7 ECTS credits, which can be transferred to their home university or applied toward their academic progress at Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH). In addition, the program offers networking opportunities with professionals and experts in the field, enabling participants to expand their professional connections and gain valuable insights into industry and research.

Overall, the program includes lectures, laboratory, and practical sessions delivered by distinguished experts in the field. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to enrich your knowledge and connect with professionals.

The program is organized by the Department of Chemistry at Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH) and the corresponding Department at Sorbonne University.

The International Summer School will take place from June 22 to July 1, 2026, at the Kavala University Campus.

Participants who successfully complete the International Summer School receive a certificate of attendance (7 ECTS), issued by the Lifelong Learning Center (KEDIVIM) of DUTH: https://kedivim.duth.gr/
