Erasmus+ is the European Union’s program that aims to enhance skills, promote mobility, and modernize education, training, and youth systems. Through educational programs and bilateral scientific cooperation agreements, it offers students and academic staff the opportunity to gain valuable international experience.

The Department of Chemistry at Democritus University of Thrace actively participates in Erasmus+, providing unique mobility opportunities for undergraduate and postgraduate students, PhD candidates, as well as faculty members, laboratory teaching staff, and technical personnel, through collaborations with leading European universities and research institutes.

For Students
  • Studies (Erasmus+ Studies): Opportunity to attend courses or participate in research projects at partner institutions across Europe, with full academic recognition and no tuition fees.
  • Traineeships (Erasmus+ Traineeship): Gain professional experience in companies, research centers, or laboratories abroad with financial support.
  • Short-term Mobility: Participation in blended programs that combine physical and virtual mobility.
  • PhD Candidates: Possibility to conduct part of the doctoral dissertation at partner European universities.
For Academic Staff (Faculty, Laboratory Teaching Staff, Specialized Teaching and Laboratory Staff)
  • Teaching Mobility: Delivering courses at partner European universities, strengthening international academic collaboration.
  • Training Mobility: Participation in training programs, seminars, and workshops to enhance professional skills.
  • Networking: Development of academic partnerships and exchange of best practices with European colleagues.
Duration – Scholarships

The minimum duration of mobility is 3 months for studies and 2 months for traineeships, while the maximum duration per study cycle is 12 months.

The Erasmus+ grant covers the “cost of mobility” (additional living expenses abroad), without fully replacing the total cost. Students retain any national scholarships they already receive.
