The Department of Chemistry of Democritus University of Thrace has a strong international orientation, with collaborations covering leading universities and research centers worldwide. Through Erasmus+, international summer and winter schools, foreign language study programs and scientific conferences, it offers students and researchers unique opportunities for academic development, cultural exchange and professional development.

International Summer & Winter Schools
The Department of Chemistry takes the lead in organizing international summer and winter schools in collaboration with leading universities abroad:
- International Summer School on Photovoltaic Systems and Emerging Technologies (with the INES Research Center – France and the Catholic University of Lille)
- Winter School: “Towards a Green and Sustainable World” (in collaboration with Sorbonne University)
- Summer School: “Bio-Inspired Molecules and Materials for Medicinal Applications and Sustainability” (with Sorbonne University)
International Study Programs
Within the framework of the foreign language Master’s Program “MSc in Oil and Gas Technology”, the Department of Chemistry collaborates with the Harold Vance Department of Petroleum Engineering of Texas A&M University (USA). The collaboration includes teaching by Professors David Schechter and George Moridis, as well as co-supervision of theses.
These collaborations demonstrate the strong presence and international networking of the Department of Chemistry at a global level.
