Biochemistry

Studying Inflammation, Thrombosis and Oxidative Stress, and their interlinked implications in chronic disorders, including cardiovascular diseases, cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, etc. In vitro, ex vivo and in vivo (i.e. clinical trials) studies for the investigation of the anti-inflammatory, antithrombotic and antioxidant activities of drugs, synthetic compounds and natural bioactives from sustainable sources (i.e. from cultured organisms, including plants, microorganisms, marine organisms, etc.). Appropriate isolation, characterization and valorization of such bioactive substances as basic components of innovative bio-functional products (drugs-pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, nutraceuticals, food supplements, functional foods, etc.) with Health Promoting Properties against inflammation-associated disorders
